"Rarer than Rubies" is a humorous rendition of Proverbs 31 that accentuates the many roles that a woman must fulfill.
Verse 1
Can you find a virtuous woman?
She is rarer far than rubies.
Get the flax and card the wool,
Weave and spin, loom and spool.
Early up and make the meat,
To the market while they eat.
Speculate in real estate.
In the meantime plant some grapes.
Weave and spin, and spin some more.
Sell the linen; Feed the poor.
Candle merchant, he's a lout.
Pay his bill or lights go out.
If it snows, you're prepared,
All have red long underwear!
All you wear is monogrammed
Purple silk, made by hand.
And while you're working
Where's your man?
Sitting, talking in the gates,
Wond'ring why dinner's late!
Yet, all you speak is wise and kind.
And your children always mind.
Can you find a virtuous woman?
She is rarer far than rubies.
And her children will bless her.
And her husband give her praise.
